Greatest Nation Turns 250 years old🇺🇸
During my childhood, the US celebrated its Bicentennial and I recall it feeling like a really big deal-even if I didn’t totally understand why. I am not sure how I got to be 60, but here we are…and the United States of America is having her 250th Birthday. As we approach the Independence Day holiday on July 4th, please take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate this great nation. I am not getting political here-simply patriotic. I love my country, and although I have traveled to several other countries, I have never wanted to live anywhere else.
I am proud to be an American with a history that dates back to the Mayflower on my father’s side of the family; while my mother’s side came over on a boat from Sicily, Italy, and came through Ellis Island. What wonderful stories we all have when you think about it.
Let’s approach each other with kindness and appreciation for all that we have, all that we are, and all that we will be. I give all the Glory to God for his many blessings in my life. To think that I have been able to start a business of my dreams, employ a great team, and help people along their health journeys makes me even more grateful to be an American. I am off to get my 250th gear and some sparklers! Enjoy the holiday and get outside!

We want to wish you a happy & safe Fourth of July Weekend!
Switching gears! 😄 If you read my companion newsletter on why sunlight and circadian rhythm matter so deeply to human physiology, you already understand the why — and now it's time for the how. The good news is that some of the most powerful things you can do for your health this summer require no prescription, no complicated protocol, and no special equipment. They just require you to step outside.🌳☀️ Here is exactly what I suggest, and how to make it work in a real life with a real schedule…
❌📱Start Your Morning With Light Before You Start It With Screens
One of the most impactful shifts you can make costs nothing and takes as little as five minutes. Within thirty to sixty minutes of waking, take your morning routine — or at least part of it — outside. Bring your coffee or tea. Sit on the porch. Walk around the block. Stand in the yard barefoot if that appeals to you. The specific activity matters far less than simply being outdoors with your eyes open, allowing natural ambient light to reach your retinas.
☀️Getting Sun Safely — What a Balanced Approach Actually Looks Like
Safe, intentional sun exposure does not mean baking on a beach or pushing through discomfort. It means building a regular, moderate relationship with natural sunlight — one that supports vitamin D production and the other remarkable things sunlight does for the body, without crossing into the territory of burning or overexposure.
🌳Weaving Outdoor Time Into the Rest of Your Day
Morning light is foundational, but the benefits of outdoor time don't stop there. Throughout the day, small moments outside can support nervous system regulation, mood, circulation, and your overall sense of wellbeing in ways that accumulate meaningfully over time.
I like to think of outdoor breaks the way we think about hydration — you wouldn't drink all of your water in one gulp and consider the day handled. Regular, distributed exposure tends to serve the body better than one long outdoor session bookended by hours of artificial light and screen time.
